Hamilton is a Canadian port city on the western tip of Lake Ontario. The Niagara Escarpment, a huge, forested ridge known locally as "the mountain" and dotted with conservation areas and waterfalls, divides the city. The long-distance Bruce Trail runs along the escarpment. HMCS Haida, a naval warship on the city's lakefront, and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in the south, trace Canada's military past. Hamilton has 7 breweries as of May 2022.
Collective Arts Brewing, 207 Burlington St E
Open: Mon - Thurs 11.00 - 21.00 Fri - Sun 10.00 - 21.00
You're in for a treat! This place makes amazing Sours! 👏 CA has an array of delicious beers with various flavours available throughout the year and some they make seasonally. Located in Hamilton's North End, not far from HMCS Haida NHS, by the waterfront. The largest brewery in town, with plenty of parking. A smallish taproom and a beer garden. The layout of the place is kind of weird? A small bar, limiting seating but then there are other rooms with more tables. Graffiti style art on the walls. They also have pretty cool merch to buy too! The fusion of art and beer is such a cool vibe! I highly recommend visiting.
Fairweather Brewing Company, 5 Ofield Rd Unit #1
Open: Mon - Thurs 12.00 - 21.00 Fri- Sat 11.00 - 22.00
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and very delicious beer! Located east of McMaster University, in a small industrial area, it looks fairly unassuming, but the inside is simple with long bar with some tables as well and a small bottle shop and plant friendly, it feels very comfortable and homey, it's hard to believe there are 18 wheelers just outside! Interesting and eclectic styles of beers, this cosy little spot has good service and nice local feel.
Grain & Grit Beer Co. 11 Ewen Rd
Open: Tues - Sun 12.00 - 21.00
Otto says; You will love Grain & Grit! It's a great place to hang out with friends, grab a quick beer! The space is super inviting and enjoyable and of course, the beer is fantastic. A nice brewery located in a 1950s garage \ mechanic shop. Half of seating space is outside. Quite a modern look inside. Friendly staff and a cool vibe. Within walking distance to Fairweather (^above^).
MERIT Brewing, 107 James St N
Open: Dai;y 12.00 - 22.00 ?
A large very unassuming industrial and timber-clad brewpub with a wide inside and a patio in the back offering draft beers plus elevated meets casual pub fare? The sausage menu here is elite and they’ve got tons of options! Located in the Centre on James St North, next to a big multi level parking lot. It's a "go to the bar and order" type of place! Usually good selection on 9+ taps, knowledgeable staff who are pretty friendly, atmosphere is relaxed. Otto says; A great spot with good service, a nice patio and a variety of beers. I’d recommend getting a tasting flight to figure out which beers you like because there are some unique flavours.
Clifford Brewing Company, 398 Nash Rd N #1
Open: Daily 12.00 - 18.00 (later at weekends)
A huge space with a long bar and lots of open space that is open to the brewery. Pinball machine. Small stage. They have 8 taps in a range of styles serving delicious beer and super friendly staff. The staff working the bar are always extremely knowledgeable on the beer making process and are happy to answer any questions or 'talk shop' to fellow beer geeks! They are very friendly and passionate about what they do. They are great at recommending beers based on individual drinkers preferences. It's also neat to be able to see 'behind the scenes' seeing the tanks and process of beer making.
Brewers Blackbird Kitchen & Brewery, 375 Wilson St E, Ancaster
Open: Wed - Sun 12.00 - 21.00 ?
A great restaurant that added a brewery to the site on 2020. A nice spacious patio, in an old building, with a garden beside the patio. Amazing food, good service but average beers. Worth a stop if in the area?
The George Hamilton Restaurant & Brewery, 152 King St W
Open: Sun - Thurs 15.00 - 22.00 Fri - Sat 12.00 - 00.00
This restaurant/brewery is a hidden gem. Easygoing setting offering pub plates such as burgers and fish & chips, plus house-brewed beers. Sited in a very old building, close to the core and lots of parking. Good food. Lots of history. A cosy little place.
