While there's some evidence left of the town's 11th-century roots, the vast majority of buildings in the Old Town date from the 18th and 19th centuries, many of them designed by renowned court architect G.A. Demmler.

BierPostAmt Schwerin, Muenzstrasse 31
Hours: Tues - Thurs 13.00 - 18.00 Fri - Sat 10.00 - 18.00
This is a small and cash only store. Fortunately there is an ATM a couple of minutes walk from the store. The shop is the outlet of Bierpost (bierpost.com) the online beer shop run by the same guy, which explains the selection. Many shops in bigger cities offer less, so you will always find a beer you never tried before. Worth a detour The service is very good helpful. They have lots of different beers with the main focus obvioulsy on German beer, but they did have a few from exotic countries as well. The selection was really good for a German store.

An out of the way bar in Schwerin and the cheapest place to drink! The decor is rustic (or is that grotty?), but the tables are clean and the WC's. Friendly staff and good food. Don't go expecting a classy night out, but enjoy the prices and the atmosphere of a very nice neighborhood pub. A really good place to have a beer in the evening, and meet up with friends.
