On the Trans-Canada Hwy, Regina (called "Pile of Bones" by the Cree) is the provincial capital of Saskatchewan, Canada. The Royal Saskatchewan Museum has exhibits on Canada’s Aboriginal peoples and native animals. It's in the Wascana Centre, a park surrounding Wascana Lake. Also in the park is the MacKenzie Art Gallery, with local and global artwork. Hands-on displays fill the lakeside Saskatchewan Science Centre. The RCMP Heritage Centre celebrates the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Other highlights include the gentrified Cathedral Village and the up-and-coming Regina Warehouse District, although on game days, the town's sole focus is on the Roughriders football team. Regina has good restaurants, bars and comfortable accommodations. These, combined with its location, make it a good base from which to explore southern Saskatchewan, and an appropriate place for a sojourn as you cross the Canadian interior. For more info check out the cities web-site; Regina has 9 breweries as of July 2022, within the past few years, Regina has been gaining national acclaim for its thriving craft beer scene. Bushwakker Brewpub, 2206 Dewdney Ave
A long time brewpub providing house made beers and great Canadian pub food in a down-to-earth setting. Built in an old warehouse, it offers a folksy atmosphere, lots of history a good amount of which is documented on the walls. The decor is various breweriana and some features local artist photography. Seems like a fun place to be on a cold, snowy night. Their own brews are usually very good. Every now and again they come out with a nice seasonal beer. The first Friday of every month is the first firkin Friday. A special cask of a new beer is paraded through the bar followed by bag pipes and is then tapped with a giant wooden mallet. The servers are great, and each one of them knows the pubs offerings intimately. If you’re in town, make sure to pay them a visit.😎
Rebellion Brewing, 1901 Dewdney Ave
Located in an industrial lot close to the centre, feels like a trucker stop? Lots of space for hangouts, a patio for sunshine and one of the best breweries in the city! Great décor and ambiance lots of red "love the hop cone lights". A long bar and a nice mix of tables as well. They have pinball, popcorn, and cool tunes. 14-16 taps of mostly their own beers with some guest offerings. Consistently coming up with amazing flavours and a wide variety of beers. Professional and great, welcoming staff. This company prides themselves in treating people well and serving the best. The menu for food is light, but your not going to want food, your goanna want another Rebellion 😉 A must visit brewery in Regina.
Pile O' Bones Brewing Company, 1808 Cameron St
A really nice place close to the city centre that will please beer geeks. A huge 32 craft beer choices on tap, with a dozen or more of their own, plus more than a dozen guest taps. The patio is amazing, and you’re a stones throw from Mosaic Stadium, so this place gets busy on game day! Flights of 5 available. The house beer is very good quality. Unique cocktail choices for those that aren’t beer lovers. Super friendly staff, awesome ambience, and cool local art and design inspiration. Another mandatory visit when in Regina. 👍🏻
Malty National Brewing Corp. 1130 15th Ave
Located in the heritage district. A great idea, a brewery/coffee shop! A fun outdoor set-up (COVID 😷 conscious and safe) bright wood feels almost like a beach cafe/holiday town nestled in a super residential neighborhood. Friendly, engaging staff. Most importantly, delicious brews and an interesting tap list. Plus lots of awesome coffee styles. You can bring in your own food too. {Support Local}. Good vibes. This place is simple and cosy and great for little groups of friends to catch up and have a conversation. There are lots of games you can play as well and the best part is they are all free. Ping-pong, arcade, board games and lots more. Go. in for a pint and grab a board game, or read a book. Dogs are also welcome. Oh and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Nearly forgot? A Mexican food truck is permanently located outside in the warm months.
Warehouse Brewing, 102-1377 Hamilton St
If you like craft beer this place is a goldmine! Located in a lovely historic 1920's bakery building nicely renovated a section into a brewery. An industrial feel to the place, lots of brick and a couple garage doors out front along with a nice little patio, laid back, and rustic atmosphere, Saskatchewan Renaissance style. About 10 taps, with flights of 4 available. Excellent food and a cool ambiance, friendly and attentive staff. There is a food truck "attached" which are reasonably priced. Open later in the evening than the other nearby places (District, Bushwhakker, and Rebellion), so a good choice for last stop. The new place to be for sure 😃
District Brewing Company, 1555 8th Ave
Located in the heart of the Warehouse District. A bare bones place in a tiny retail location with a few chairs inside and some patio tables outside. Around 6 taps, with flights of 4, plus a couple fridges of 4-packs to go. Friendly service. Beers are OK. Go for happy hour where you can sample new beers and enjoy their current award winning ones.
Barley Mill Brew Pub / Trifon's Pizza, (Malt House Brewing Co.) 6155 Rochdale Blvd
Somewhat hidden from the main road, opposite a strip mall. A fairly large brewpub set-up, with a raised seating spot with booths. A pool area, vlt area too. Same beers on tap as the other Malt House brewpubs. Off sale simply had the main 5 beers. The staff are keen to tell you that "the recipes are similar yet there are different brew masters." A nice local pub, not a bad place to spend an hour or two.
Last Straw Brew Pub, (Malt House Brewing Co.), 127 Albert St N
More of the same from the Malt House gang! The same 4-6 brewpub beers in regular rotation (Red Tail, Prairie whatever, etc.) as at the sister brewpubs in town. A very basic beer selection. Avoid unless you are here to "test the waters" of all the Saskatchewan franchise brewpubs.
Creekside Pub & Brewery, (Malt House Brewing Co.) 3215 Eastgate Dr
The bar seemed like the other Malt House Brewing establishments? A little dark and a few scattered locals. These are decent brewpubs for the community though the beers rarely change and they don’t experiment in styles. All their house off-sale beers are bottled in 1 litre plastic bottles. They have a lot of variety on their menu and the food is good for the price. It generally is pretty full which is a good indication that it's a popular venue.
