Charlottetown is the capital of Canada’s Prince Edward Island. It's on the southern coast of the province. Prince Edward Island presents a postcard-worthy picture of pastoral Canada. Every summer, thousands of tourists descend on the island to visit its beaches and seaside villages, many of which lie within the boundaries of Prince Edward Island National Park. The Province House National Historic Site hosted the Charlottetown Conference of 1864, spurring the country’s birth. Victoria Row has shops, restaurants and the Confederation Centre of the Arts, with its musical based on “Anne of Green Gables.” Nearby is the Gothic Revival St. Dunstan’s Basilica. Cycling the 435km-long Confederation Trail makes a fine way to explore. For more information visit the cities web-site;
As of June 2022 there are only 5 breweries so I'll add 5 of the best pubs as well;
The Gahan House, 126 Sydney St
Located in an old brownstone building, (an old manor) in central Charlottetown it's got a charming atmosphere with beautiful decor and a bit of an upscale vibe. Since the place is a house, the rooms a very segregated and the bar is in one of the larger rooms at the front of the place. They have a good dozen taps, all of their own beers, including seasonals, flight of 4 available. The majority of the beers here are brewed on the seven barrel kit in the basement, but some are brewed at PEI, a short drive north of town centre. The service is excellent. Nice place.
Prince Edward Island Brewing Company, 96 Kensington Rd
Located in an industrial sector, this taproom is cool and quite huge, over 2 floors, with a large reception area. The decor is modern yet warm with an industrial ambiance with plenty of charm. Some nice history on the walls to look through while you are drinking. They do 3 types of tours (that must be booked in advance) that are really cool and informative. PEI Brew 4 brands at this location Gahan, Beach Chair, After Hours and Colliding Tides. The service is excellent and the food menu is great value all one price! A large gift shop with plenty swag. A great place to try out some of the best beers on the island. Do a flight, try all the beers, pick your favourite. Live the life of an islander and enjoy.
Upstreet Craft Brewing, 41 Allen St
A cool little brewery located a bit outside of downtown Charlottetown. A pretty cool location, kind of industrial, but with lots of different seating options and things to do, table games, books, etc. They have a solid swag area and a small patio for nice weather. The menu is inexpensive, mainly pizza, salads sandwiches. There is a large variety of beer, and the bartender is knowledgeable about each one. The staff are also super friendly. The food and beer are delicious and well priced. Highly recommend coming here if you're in the area!

Lone Oak Brewing Co is a locally owned and operated, forward-thinking, craft brewery in Gateway Village of Borden-Carleton. They focus is on innovation and quality while striving to use local ingredients. From serving oysters to celebrate launching a new cider, to fun mystery boxes, the team at Red Island Cider always keep it fun, fresh and local.
Hopyard, 151 Kent St
This is a great place in Charlottetown for beer and retro music. They play real vinyl and it gives a great vibe. A great selection of craft beers from ten taps and a choice of bottled beers. Selection of dishes to share, all at $8 and all excellent. They change the menu constantly so this provides a nice variety. The service is efficient and friendly and the prices are quite reasonable.
bar1911, 113 Longworth Ave
What a great place to go with friends. Located north east of the downtown area, this place is located in the basement of a former prison. A nice cosy setting and the food is very tasty. This is a coffee meets beer bar with nice decor, 20 taps of PEI and maritime beers, flight of 4 available. The waitress is lovely and the atmosphere is always relaxing.
John Brown Richmond Street Grille, 132 Richmond St
This is a sleek and modern place with a bit of an industrial feel with the bar in great location, in the middle of downtown next to Fishbone’s. A nice patio out front with umbrellas for shade. The service is prompt and friendly. A good draught list, about a dozen Halifax and Moncton micros and a couple of Moosehead. Well worth a stop.
Craft Beer Corner, 156 Great George St
A small shop/bar that is one of the three Upstreet Brewery outlets in Charlottetown this comfortable modern bar offered a range of Upstreet and other local beers to drink on the spot or to take away. A dozen choices on tap, several bottles as well as a choice of Cold Brew and kombucha. The staff are both friendly and willing to share their knowledge of the beers on offer.
Olde Dublin Pub, 131 Sydney St
A little bit of Ireland in Atlantic Canada, and a Prince Edward Island institution. In fact, they are Charlottetown’s original Irish pub! Here, since 1983, Islanders and visitors alike have been tipping back Guinness, enjoying Irish and East Coast dishes and raising a cheer for some of the best traditional and contemporary music to grace the province.
